Frequently Asked Questions

How Accurate is the Test?

The lie detector test has to be conducted with clinical practise and the accuracy of the test depends on four main contributing factors. Statistics from the American Polygraph Association suggest 92-95% and with recent advancements through technology the optimisation of the test continues to improve. No one should quote 100% accuracy as this would not be possible as with any scientific testing there are variances which need to be considered and suitably provisioned for.

4 Main Factors to Determining Accuracy of the Test

  1. The Person being examined – Must make sure that they are complying with our pre-test requirements
  2. The Environment – Needs to be void of disturbance or distraction
  3. The Examiner – Needs to be APA accredited and have relevant testing experience with similar cases to conduct the matter at hand
  4. The Equipment – We use state-of-the-art Layafette Instruments as used in high level global polygraph testing.

Avoid unqualified independent polygraph examiners who offer you a quick and cheap test. As with many industries there are always rogue traders or private detectives who have bought second rate equipment and not representative of a professional lie detector test. Even though you might be distressed, it is important to be mindful and understand that an accurate and correctly administered private lie detector test will verify truth and prove innocence at best, but equally administered by unqualified people could have a consequential and unnecessary extra burden on your already troubled mind.

How much does it a cost for The Lie Detector Test?

£595 Per Person all inclusive of pre-test consultation, polygraph test, fully verified reports, venue or travel if required.

Where do I come for the test?

You can either come to our offices in London by appointment or we can arrange a private room at a location near to you in most towns and cities where we conduct tests. The cost is already included in the price.

What if the person being tested is on medication?

If they are on medication then you must inform us when booking so that we can advise whether they are suitable. In most cases if they are on any medication which is not specific to physiological changes then we advise you to take your medication as normal as we wish them to arrive for testing in their ‘normal’ self.

What about drugs, alcohol or pregnancy?

Regarding drugs and alcohol the person being tested must be clean for 24 hours prior to the test. As for pregnancy, we will not test anybody who is pregnant until 8 weeks after birth.

Can I pay cash on the day?

No, as with any professional service, there are costs incurred for us to setup and then conduct the test. We would always require a non-refundable deposit of £300 when you initially book and then the remaining balance paid by 24 hours before the test. Only electronic payments would be accepted either via PayPal, Debit or Credit card.

Where will the test be conducted?

We conduct all Lie Detector Tests at either our studio office in London or at our network of REGUS offices which are available in most major towns and cities. When you make a booking with us via the website you will be automatically associated to the nearest office and when you book over the phone we will disclose the location once the booking has been confirmed. This is as a safeguarding measure as we often have people checking on others to see if they are being tested.

How does it Work?

The Lie Detector Test is both a psychological and physiological test for signs of deception. So when you are into the test enviroment you are monitored by a trained examiner and with technological instruments to measure your responses to questions which are set by the examiner and often proposed by the client or the person being tested in some cases. Such examples of questions normally end with close ended answers that are clear in one direction or the other.

Can you explain what happens on the day?

Yes, initially there is a pre-test interview which takes apporximatley 45 minutes where we would go through the background and history of the issue and discuss in detail what you wish to resolve. You would also be asked to provide photographic ID to verify who you are and if anyone else was present they could attend the pre-test interview to see which questions will be proposed.

The person then being test will go into the examination room and they will be connected to the devices and the testing would commence and be based on the questions proposed and those which the examiner feels are neccessary to achieve accurate results.

Finally, the examiner will then begin their analysis of their findings and take scores from each area of measurement. The examiner will then provide a fully verified report which is always checked by a second examiner to make sure you have something substantial to support or counter an accusation which was initially made. We with the consent of the client are happy to discuss the matter with a 3rd party person if neccessary to help the client move on after the test.

How does lie detector test work?

The process was devised initially for the purpose of measuring and detecting deception in criminal cases in the United States. With the progression of technology such as Layafette Instruments and sensory devices the test has become more rigorous and the uses are now more widely recognised for such things as relationships, business disputes and private theft cases.

The person whom is tested is connected to a number of devices which monitor physical signs of deception whilst the examiner will conduct psychometric testing to counter and further build a detailed profile of the test subject. You will generally be asked a number of questions both specific to the issue and more broadly targeted at profiling.

Once the examiner is happy they have gathered enough information to draw conclusions then the test will be stopped and the examiner will use an advanced algorithmic approach to determine if there are true signs of deception. The skill and experience of the examiner are fundamental to the success rate of the test. The equipment also needs to be regularly calibrated and the environment of the test needs to be suitable.
